days in uppsala 2

The first week in Uppsala, last days before the semester

1. The scenery and buildings here

I can’t complement more about the picturesque life here! The valley lane, the bridge and river, the main building and even the teaching building. Nothing is more intuitive than the photos.

2. The daily cooking

Still not so experienced in cooking, but some decent “food” at least. The fast frozen vegetable here is really cheap compared to the fresh ones. You just buy a big package of them and just put inside the fridge, never worried about expired food. And the frozen food is really cooking-friendly, fry, boil, microwave… The best thing is, on the day Oct 25th, I had rice! No longer tortued by the hard paste. I also found it difficult to get some decent or suitable ingredient for Chinese dishes in ICA and Willys. So I had to be careful when choosing the seasoning, tough time. By the way, milk here is quite lighter here, donno know why.

Tomato meat ball and rice, first rice here!

3. About the nation culture here

The most indispensible part of Uppsala’s university life is the nations. The nations are some kind of like the organization of people from same hometown in China, but quite different as well. There are Uppland, Stockholm, Gotland, etc. The best thing of the nation I think is that they have there own building (villa), and autonomy. For our international students, the nations are access to sociality, to meet friends, to immerse in the Swedish culture, and to cheap food as well. I personally found it confusing to decide which nation to join, there is nothing I specially like or dislike. I just selected the GH nation, along with most of my friends from ITC group.

If something remembered later, I will post here.

By the way, semester starts next week! And happy birthday to myself, beforehand!
