General principle
Graphics, illustrations and figures must convey what you want the readers to know concisely and clearly.
- Vector graphics. Use vector graphics whenever possible. For rater (pixel) graphics, the resolution has to be at least 300ppi.
- Size of graphics should match the requriement of the journals. When resubmit your paper to a new journal, try to relot the figures to match the new requirement.
- A comprehensive guidance of graphics design can be found in the Nature Method Column written by Bang Wong, Martin Krzywinski, and colleagues at Broad Institute.
