Background
This website is an online repository for research data. This work has been carried out in Academia Sinica, Taiwan. It has been supported by the Institute of Information Science and the Research Center for Information Technology Innovation (both at Academia Sinica), and in part by research grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. The website was officially released at the Digital Heritage 2018 conference in San Francisco, USA.
My responsibilities in this project were the branding and user interface design. The main task was to upgrade the outdated user interface of CKAN (an open source framework for data sharing, version management, and hosting, which has been used by the governments all over the world such as the US government) and to localize the interface in the Mandarin Chinese context.
We were a team of 8 members (in alphabetical order): Tyng-Ruey Chuang (project lead), Andrea Wei-Ching Huang, Cheng-Jen Lee (lead developer), Hsiung-Ming Liao, Yen-Tsen Liu, Huang-Sin Syu, Ally Chia-Hsun Wang (project manager), and Yao-Hsien Yeh.

Brand Visual Identity
The visual identity of depositar aims to creat a dynamic and aspiring atmosphere for the target audience — the researchers in the academic fields. Here, the researcher are free to distribute the raw data of their researches, and the database system empowered by CKAN provides a fully-functional system for the users to manage their datasets. CKAN, an open-source framwork widely adpated by top academic institutions and government sectors such as Harvard University and Federal government of Switzerland, is just like another Github for research data.

The visual identity of depositar originates from the core concept of a dynamic database with a great variety of research data. The logotype and the icons developed are also based on this visual identity.

Website Design and Localization
We redesigned the information architecture of the landing page, which aims to help the target users, the researchers, to get to know how open data and the service can foster a more burgeoning research community.
